Career Night For The Hawks
It's been a season full of first for the Hawks volleyball team this year, as they try to earn their first post season appearance. With 4 Hawks matching or setting new career highs, they can add another first to the list, as they took down the Seahawks last night at The Nest. It is the first win against Cabrillo in the program's history, as they won in 4 sets 25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 26-24.
The Hawks had two players who finished with a double double, leading the way and adding to her mounting MVP campaign was Ainsley Wade. Wade ended the night with a career high 27 kills to go along with 15 digs. Meanwhile Taylor Huerta, the other hand of the Hawks one-two punch had 14 kills with 23 digs. Chloe Owyang had a career high 10 kills from out of the middle. All most all the kills came from the hands of setter Jade Dancel who dished out 52 assists matching her career high, a mark that she set in the team's first win against Napa Valley back in August. Not to be left out was libero Mimi Mckaig who also had career high with 25 digs, which led the team.
With the win, the Hawks improved their record to 10-5 overall and at the half way point of Coast Conference play they are 4-1. With Hartnell's win over Monterey Peninsula, there currently is a three-way tie for first place between Hartnell, Monterey Peninsula and Las Positas. The Hawks will be back in action this Friday night as they head down South to take on those previously mentioned Panthers of Hartnell, with first place on the line. Go Hawks!
