Women's soccer team battles with the No. 1 team in the state

The Irvine Valley women's soccer team played well in a 2-0 loss to No. 1 in the state Cypress on the road in an Orange Empire Conference match Tuesday.

Irvine Valley's record went to 6-4 overall and 1-2 in conference. Cypress remained unbeaten at 8-0-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference.

Cypress scored both of its goals in the first half. Itzel Ramirez found the back of the net in the 13th minute and then Kristen Ramirez scored right before the end of the first half.

The Lasers kept the Chargers off of the board in the final 45 minutes.

Irvine Valley sophomore goalie Sydnee Salamoff ended up making six saves on the day.

IVC plays again on Friday, hosting Fullerton in a conference match at 3 p.m.
