MiraCosta Handles Miramar, Stay Undefeated in Conference Play

MiraCosta College women's soccer team earned a decisive 5-2 victory over San Diego Miramar on September 13, 2024, improving to 2-0 in conference play. The match, played at MiraCosta, saw early adversity as defender Mylie Tinaisamoa received a red card just 15 minutes into the game for a non-decorum-related rule violation, leaving MiraCosta down a player for the majority of the match.

Despite the setback, MiraCosta struck early and often, with forward Lena Bachman leading the charge. Bachman opened the scoring in the 7th minute, assisted by Shelby Maldonado. She followed up with another goal in the 22nd minute, this time set up by Jazmyne Arispe. Maki Schwalbe added a third goal just before halftime, giving MiraCosta a 3-0 lead at the break.

San Diego Miramar responded in the second half with two goals, narrowing the gap to 3-2. However, MiraCosta quickly regained control. Raigan Jager scored in the 61st minute, followed by Bachman completing her hat trick just a minute later, assisted by Jager, sealing the 5-2 win.

Despite being shorthanded, MiraCosta displayed resilience and teamwork, maintaining their lead throughout the match and securing an important conference victory.

With the win, MiraCosta now boasts a perfect 2-0 record in conference play, showing their strength early in the season.
