Women's basketball finishes strong, but loses to Glendale

Irvine Valley's women's basketball team bounced back with a solid second half, but still fell to No. 12 in the state Glendale at home , 60-47, Saturday evening at home.

The Lasers trailed, 28-15, at the half.

Glendale led much of the game and was up by as many as 21 points in the contest.

Irvine Valley's record went to 5-6 overall, while Glendale improved to 6-3 overall.

IVC was paced by freshman forward Neryah Lokeni. She finished with 20 points, shooting 6 of 15 from the field and making 8 of 10 free throws.

Lokeni also added eight rebounds and two assists.

Freshman wing Samantha Barnett chipped in nine points and sophomore guard Avril Ho had seven points, three rebounds and two assists.

Glendale was led by Malia Ulery, who had 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Sammy Vasquez added 11 points for Glendale.

Irvine Valley plays again next Friday in the Glendale Crossover, taking on Allan Hancock at 3 p.m.
