Men's basketball team tops LA Valley by seven on the road

Behind a strong effort from its bench, Irvine Valley's men's basketball team picked up its third win of the season, beating LA Valley, 62-55, on the road.

Irvine Valley's record went to 3-1 overall, while LA Valley fell to 0-3.

The Lasers never trailed in the game and were up by as many as 14 points in the contest.

IVC led, 32-30, at the half and then out-scored the Monachs, 30-25, in the second half.

The Lasers shot 42.4 percent (25-59 from the field) and held LA Valley to 32.3 percent (20 of 62).

The difference in the game was the play of the Laser reserves.

IVC got 32 points from its bench compared to 10 points by LA Valley.

Irvine Valley got 12 points each from freshman guard Yanis Aldeguer and freshman forward Matt Mowers. Mowers also finished with eight rebounds.

Starting guards Allen Moser and Ammon Allan aso had solid games. Moser, a freshman point guard, chipped in nine points, three rebounds and three assists and Allan added nine points and six assists.

Irvine Valley turns around and takes on MiraCosta at home at 5 p.m on Friday.
