Hawks Get The Win

The Hawks men's soccer team came out on fire in their 1st round 3C2A Nor-Cal playoff match up with S.J. Delta, as they scored two goals in the first 5 minutes on the way to a 5-1 win on the road.

It was Frank Hinostroza who started the scoring in the 2nd minute when he scored off a Ryan Hoopes assists. Then just 3 minutes later, Cooper Kennedy scored with Angel Rondon getting the assists. It took a while for Delta to regain their composure but they did answer back with a goal in the 25th minute. That's where score would stay going into the halftime.

The second half started just like the first half did for the Hawks as they quickly scored their third goal. In fact, it was Hawks midfielder Monir Gardizi who took over the match scoring two goals, dashing any hopes of a Delta comeback. Gardizi scored in the 47th minute off a Nicolas Comenares assists. His second goal, which was assisted by Saul Tecle came in the 70th minute. The final goal was scored by Lenni Hertwig, Gabriel Juarez was credited with the assist. Keeper Jase Brede gave up only one goal on his way to a win.

The 17th seeded Hawks will now have a date with the #1 seed Evergreen Valley Hawks (15-2-4) in the 2nd round of the 3C2A Nor-Cal playoffs. This will be a rematch of the October 11th affair where the Hawks that wore green came away with a 4-2 win. Hertwig and Tecle each scored a goal, and the Hawks in black and red had a 2-1 lead in the first half.

The upcoming rematch will be played Saturday night under the lights with kick-off scheduled for 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $12 for general admission adults, $8 for children under 12, students with a school ID, adults aged 60 and over, faculty, and staff.
