
LANCASTER – Yvette Castro earned a hat trick with 3 goals while Rosiee Castillo scored twice to help lead the West Los Angeles College women's soccer team to 6-0 rout at Antelope Valley College in its Western State Conference South Division opener.
With the win, the Wildcats improved to 4-3-2 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play.
West LA and Antelope Valley battled in the opening half and the game remained scoreless until the Wildcats finally broke through in the 40th minute when Castro scored the first of three goals off the assist from Kennedy Gaston.
Four minutes later, Castro made it a 2-0 lead taking the assist from Valeria Villaneda.
The Wildcats took over in the second half and poured it on. Villaneda knocked in a goal in the 71st minute to get in on the scoring. One minute later, Castro completed her hat trick with her third goal in the 72nd.
Castillo closed it out, getting goals in the 84th and 87th minutes.
West LA goalkeeper Jenna Sosa was solid, posting 6 saves as she and the Wildcats' defense posted their fifth shutout of the season.
West LA is back in action on Oct. 4 when it hosts Santa Monica College in a Western State Conference South Division game.
