
Bobcats open with a win
The Saddleback men's tennis team opened the season with a 7-2 win against El Camino College on Tuesday at the Saddleback Tennis Complex. The Bobcats will play on the road on Thursday.
Saddleback entered the matchup on Tuesday with an advantage as El Camino had just five players, giving the Bobcats a 2-0 advantage to start the day. Saddleback then split the two remaining matches in doubles play before winning five of six singles matches to cruise past the Warriors.
Tyler Boberg and Sean Viravouth swept past Brandon Livermore and Christian Keane at No. 2 doubles, 8-0, giving the Bobcats a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.
Saddleback then had strong performances in singles play from Drake Sullivan (pictured), Caden Chen and Parsa Raoufpour to close out the team match. Sullivan was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at No. 2 singles over Tarik Hosein while Raoufpour was a 6-0, 6-1 winner against Keane. The biggest win came from Chen, who swept past Livermore 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
Saddleback picked up default wins from Jolhan-Pierre Noiroux and Nathan Denney at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Saddleback will play at College of the Desert on Thursday at 2:00 PM.
