In their 2025 season-opener, the Cerritos College baseball team needed only 13 hits to bring home 20 runs in a 20-9 win at Mt. San Jacinto College on Friday. The Falcons (1-0), who will host the Eagles at noon on Saturday at Kincaid Field, found themselves down, 2-0 after the first inning.

However, Cerritos scored multiple runs in five consecutive innings to open up a big lead. They scored three times in the top of the second inning, thanks in part to an error, followed by walks to sophomore Dylan Immel (El Segundo HS) and freshman Mateo Heredia (El Segundo HS) to load the bases. After sophomore Daniel Cuadras (Warren HS/Golden West College) grounded out to bring home the first run, freshman Owen Martin (Narbonne HS) laced a two-out, two-run double to plate two more runners for a 3-2 advantage.

Sophomore starting pitcher Noah Andrunas (Gahr HS/UC Riverside) was touched up for eight runs (six earned) in his five innings, but saw freshman Jake Fowler (Los Alamitos HS) toss three shutout innings in relief, followed by freshman AJ Gonzalez (Gahr HS), who gave up a run in the ninth inning.

Over the next three innings, Cerritos scored 11 consecutive runs, with six coming in the third inning. Sophomore Evan Saito (Torrance HS) led off the stanza by getting hit by a pitch, with freshman Brody Cuellar (Bishop Montomery HS) drawing a walk, one of nine earned by the Falcons on the day. Freshman Wyatt Ormonde (Long Beach Millikan HS) singled home the first run, with an error bringing home the second and Heredia collecting an RBI on a ground out. Once Cerritos loaded the bases, sophomore Diego Orozco (Long Beach Wilson HS) cleared the bases with a three-run double.

By the end of the game, Orozco was 3-for-5 with a walk and five RBI, with Cuellar driving in four runs on just one hit and a pair of sacrifice files. Ormonde also went 3-for-6, with Martin, Saito and Heredia all slapping out a pair of hits.
