
For the second time in five days, the Pirates' men's tennis team defeated Glendale 6-3. Despite the same score, the results were different in the match with Yanis Guerrout providing two points for Ventura (7-2, 4-0) in No. 2 doubles with Rafael Matias and in No. 3 singles. Matias prevailed in his No. 1 singles match, as well.
Matias and Guerrout posted the first win of the day, 8-3, in no. 2 doubles. Max Beaudry and Manolo Vanbesien won their No. 3 doubles contest 8-5 before Yusen Sato and Haru Nakayama narrowly lost in No. 1 doubles, 9-7.
VC made quick work of the Nos. 5 and 6 singles matches, with Ariitea Cotti-Helme and Leo Pham each winning by 6-2, 6-1 scores, respectively. Guerrout clinched the Pirate victory with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph in No. 3 singles and Matias claimed VC's final point in a super tiebreaker in the No. 1 slot, 6-0, 3-6 (10-4).
The Pirates are next scheduled to travel to Bakersfield on Thursday Mar. 6.
