Golden Eagles snap skid with 75-67 win over Porterville
LEMOORE – Jaylan Walton and Trey Booker both had double-doubles to help lead Lemoore College to a 75-67 Central Valley Conference win over visiting Porterville College on Saturday at Golden Eagle Arena.
The victory snapped an eight-game losing streak for the Golden Eagles as they improved to 5-11 overall and evened up their conference record at 1-1.
Walton totaled game-highs with 26 points and 10 rebounds to record his second double-double of the season while Booker came through with 16 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. For Booker, it was his ninth double-double of the year.
Lemoore also got solid contributions from Jordan McGriff (13 points) and Deshawn Shears (8 points, 11 rebounds).
Earlier in the week, the Golden Eagles opened Central Valley Conference play with a 79-69 loss to Reedley at home on Wednesday.
Booker led all with 28 points and 15 boards while Walton totaled 19 points and 8 assists. McGriff chipped in with 12 points and 6 boards.
Lemoore will look to keep the momentum going from Saturday's victory when the Golden Eagles travel to College of the Sequoias on Wednesday (Jan. 15) for a 7 p.m. Central Valley Conference game.
