Golden Eagles pick up historic five-set win over Sequoias
LEMOORE – The Lemoore College women's volleyball team put together one of its finest efforts of the year to earn a historic win, a 24-26, 30-28, 25-23, 17-25, 15-11 victory over visiting College of the Sequoias on Friday night at Golden Eagle Arena.
Friday's contest marked the first-ever win by Lemoore over Sequoias in the history of the program that dates back to 2018.
Lemoore got contributions from all over the floor. Olivia Nourian led the offense with a season-high 18 kills on her way to an impressive .341 kill percentage. Mhaycel De La Cruz doubled up on her previous season-best, anchoring the defense against Reedley with 31 digs.
Mia Elizondo totaled 12 kills, 22 digs, and 5 aces while Alexa Morfin contributed 9 kills and Adrianne Davis had 21 digs and 4 aces.
Both Lemoore setters had solid matches as Amaya Keovilaysane-Ruiz posted 22 assists and 18 digs and Kyana Rivera led with 25 assists to go with 4 aces.
Lemoore improved to 7-8 overall and 2-3 in the Central Valley Conference. The Golden Eagles return to the court on Wednesday (Oct. 9) when they travel to in-district rival Coalinga College for a 6 p.m. CVC match.
