MODESTO – The Coalinga College women's volleyball team continued its impressive start to the 2024 by winning both its matches at the Modesto Junior College quad on Friday.
The Falcons took both matches by sweeps, taking down Folsom Lake College 25-21, 25-21, 25-12 and hosts Modesto 25-14, 25-22, 25-12. Coalinga has now won sixth straight matches, including its last three by sweeps, to improve to 7-1 overall this season.
Sophomore Zoe Ruskofsky led the way once again for Coalinga in the win over Folsom Lake. She had team-highs with 12 kills, 16 digs, and 3 aces. Macy Ellis added 6 kills, Aryam Munoz posted 15 digs and Tiffany Kelton totaled 19 assists.
Ellis came up big offensively for the Falcons against Modesto with a match-high 14 kills. Munoz led with 13 digs, Kelton had 19 assists, and Kaylee Bayer contributed 4 aces.
CCCWVCA STATE RANKINGS
Thanks to four wins last week as part of its six-match winning streak, Coalinga made its first appearance of the season in the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCWVCA) State Rankings at the No. 23 position.
The Falcons will look to keep the momentum going when they take on Sacramento City College (2 p.m.) and Cabrillo College (4 p.m.) in Aptos on Saturday (Sep. 14).
