SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Lemoore College women's soccer team put together a furious late-game rally to secure a 2-2 draw at Cuesta College on Friday.
Trailing 2-0 late in the second half at Cuesta, the Golden Eagles' offense finally came alive. Freshman Bailey Goforth knocked in her fourth goal of the season in the 77th minute to get Lemoore on the board.
And with just minutes remaining in the contest, Mia Melendrez scored the equalizer off the assist from Jackie Pizano in the 88th minute to erase a likely Lemoore loss. It was Melendrez' second goal of the season while Pizano picked up her third assist.
Golden Eagles' head coach Francisco Hernadez was proud of his team's effort.
"We fought back to get the draw," Hernandez said. "We were relentless in the attack and finally put away our chances. We showed a lot of fight and that we can get through adversity."
Anahi Gonzalez posted four saves in goal over 45 minutes and Denisse Beltran had one save for Lemoore.
Lemoore moved to 1-1-1 overall with the tie. The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday (Sep. 3) when they travel to Bakersfield College for a 1 p.m. non-conference game.
