Garcia, Figueroa Tabbed 3CFCA Players of the Week

LOS ANGELES — Haley Garcia of Fullerton College and Savannah Figueroa of Bakersfield College have been tabbed the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CFCA) Player and Pitcher of the Week.

Garcia picks up her first 3CFCA Player of the Week award after leading the No. 6 Hornets to a sweep in a three-game series over No. 2 Cypress. The sophomore out of Canyon Lake highlighted the week with a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth to give Fullerton a 7-6 win. She also hit a triple in the first two games against the Hornets.

The left fielder led Fullerton to a 4-1 week, totaling 10 hits, seven RBIs, seven runs, two triples, one double, and one stolen base.

Figueroa also picks up her first weekly award after appearing in all three of the No. 14 Renegades' wins. Her biggest performance came in handing No. 2 Fullerton its only loss of the week. Figueroa pitched eight and a third innings in the win, gave up just two earned runs, and struck out six.

The freshman playing for her hometown also picked up a shutout win against No. 19 Citrus and earned a save against Pasadena City. Figueroa finished the week with 13 strikeouts and allowed only two earned runs in 16 innings.
