
The MSJC men's tennis team picked up their first team win of the season on Thursday as they defeated El Camino 6-3 on the road.
The Eagles picked up a win in the number two doubles match when Tony Martinez and Keith Norman teamed up to win 8-1. MSJC was awarded the point for the number three doubles match as well in a walkover to lead 2-1 headed to singles. In the singles competition Chad Hayes picked up a win at number three 6-2 and 6-2 while Jesus Guadarrama won at number four 6-1 and 6-3. El Camino was unable to field players for the five and six singles matches giving the Eagles the team victory 6-3.
MSJC was coming off a doubleheader loss at Glendale on Tuesday. The Eagles lost 9-0 and 8-1 on the day. MSJC's only point on the afternoon came in the number six singles match when Martinez earned a 6-0 and 6-1 victory. The Eagles record on the season is now 1-6 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
The Eagles will continue action this week when they play a pair of matches. Tuesday they will travel to College of the Desert for a 2 pm match and Thursday MSJC will host San Diego City. Thursday's home match will be held at Valley Wide Recreation Center on Esplanade in San Jacinto and is set to begin at 2 pm.
