Game 1
American River
The Butte College Roadrunners put together a dominant performance against American River, taking both games of the doubleheader while allowing just a single run across 18 innings. With the sweep, Butte improves to 8-5 on the season as they continue to build momentum.
Game 1: Butte 5, American River 1
Butte was led by a masterful complete-game effort from Jordan Riley (2-1), who went the distance, allowing just one run in the first inning before shutting down the Beavers. Riley scattered six hits, walked none, and struck out five in the victory.
The Roadrunners responded quickly after falling behind, tying the game in the second inning when Jason Olsen roped his second triple of the season and was driven in by Luke Zuromski. In the third inning, Aidan Santos singled and promptly stole second, setting the stage for Nathan Brown's single and a walk by Grant Sonke to load the bases. A fielder's choice from Trent Van Nuys and an RBI single by Olson gave Butte a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
The Roadrunners tacked on two more runs in the sixth, with James Garceau providing the final RBI single to secure the 5-1 victory.
Game 2: Butte 7, American River 0
The second game of the doubleheader was all Butte, as the Roadrunners' pitching staff dominated once again, this time securing a shutout. Jacob Cullen set the tone, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out five. Mason Ali followed with three perfect innings in relief, earning a rare three-inning save.
At the plate, Butte's offense continued to shine. Olsen, one of the team's early-season leader, started the second inning with a walk before being driven in by Jaden Thomson. Kinser Day followed with an RBI single to extend the lead.
In the fifth inning, Van Nuys drove in Sonke, and Thomson added to the tally with a sacrifice fly to bring in Van Nuys. The Roadrunners put the game out of reach in the sixth when Brown smashed a two-run double, followed by Garceau driving in the final run of the day.
With the sweep, Butte improves to 8-5 and will look to keep rolling when they take on Yuba College on Monday, February 17th, at 1 p.m. on the Butte College campus.
