Irvine Valley's baseball team fell to Cypress, 17-8, in an Orange Empire Conference game at home on Saturday.
Cypress finished with 20 hits and scored in seven of the nine innings with at least two runs in five of those frames.
IVC made it a game with two runs in the bottom of the second and another run in the third to tie the score, 5-5.
But the Chargers scored four runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead for good, 9-6.
For Irvine Valley, freshman center fielder Sam Tucci was 1 for 3 with a walk, one run and three RBI.
Freshman second baseman Josh Gutierrez and freshman right fielder Waylon Pipia each ended with two hits for the Lasers.
Cypress was paced by Evan Rolbiecki, who went 4 for 6 with a home run, two runs and six RBI.
Josh Tillar hit two home runs for the Chargers and went 3 for 5 with a walk, five runs and four RBI.
Bradley Navarro and Luke Matlock also homered for Cypress and Zach Anderson and Travis Curry each contributed three hits.
IVC plays again next week in a three-game cnference series against Fullerton.
The Lasers start at Fullerton on Tuesday at 2 p.m. and then host the Hornets on Thursday at 2 p.m.
