Women's Volleyball Battles Through Tough Foothill Defeat

PALM DESERT, Calif. - Back-and-forth they went, but coming up just short in the fifth and final set were the College of the Desert Lady Roadrunners, as they fell 3-2 (20-25, 26-24, 15-25, 25-23,15-17) to visiting Chaffey  on Wednesday evening in Palm Desert.

Freshman Savannah Sharp (Palm Desert, CA/Palm Desert HS) led the ferocious COD attack, as she landed 22 kills and one service ace.  Sophomore Alyssa Cazares (Indio, CA/Shadow Hills HS) landed nine kills, while freshman Angelico Sayo (Palm Desert, CA/Xavier College Prep HS) added seven.  Cazares and Sayo were each in double-figures in digs, as well, with 17 and 14, respectively.  

Sophomore, and this week's female "Know Your Roadrunners", Maygan Zink (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) collected 49 assists and 16 digs, while freshman Kaylie Edgar (Palm Springs, CA/Palm Springs HS) accumulated 42 digs and  three aces.  

College of the Desert (6-9, 3-1) will look to rebound this Friday, October 24 when they travel to take on Rio Hondo in a 5:30 p.m. Foothill Conference match.
