Week #3 Players and Pitchers of the Week Announced
The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce it's Week #3 (February 14th – 20th) State Player and Pitcher of the Week. Cerritos College sophomore Jenny Collazo is the Player of the Week, while Fresno City College sophomore Sarah Santana was named the Pitcher of the Week
Pitcher of the Week – Sarah Santana – Fresno City College
Sophomore pitcher Sarah Santana did it in the circle and at the plate for the Rams this past week. Santana was 12 for 18 (.667) at the plate with a double, four RBIs, and five runs scored. In addition, Santana went 4-1 on the week, with 30 innings of work, fanning 16 batters, and issuing just six walks. She picked up wins over State #12 Cabrillo, State #6 Cosumnes River, along with victories over Shasta and Bakersfield Colleges. Santana's only set back in the circle came against State #1 College of San Mateo in a 3-2 loss. Santa helped the Rams reach the #2 ranking in Northern California this week and #5 ranking in the State. Santana prepped at Clovis West High School.
Player of the Week – Jenny Collazo – Cerritos College
In three games last week, sophomore 2nd baseman Jenny Collazo had what most would consider a good week. In leading the Falcons to three straight wins, Collazo went 9-for-11 with seven runs scored, with two doubles, a triple, two home runs and 14 RBI. She drove in five runs in two of the games and four in the other. Collazo also drew two walks and stole three bases. Collazo currently ranks third in the state in RBI and eighth in slugging percentage. The Falcons checked in at #8 in the State and #5 in SoCal in the latest CCCFCA rankings. Collazo prepped at Paramount High School.
