Sutton, Rodriguez Tabbed 3CFCA Players of the Week

AZUSA, CA — Amaya Sutton of Sierra College and Patty Rodriguez of Citrus College have been named the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches (3CFCA) Players of the Week.

Sutton earns 3CFCA Pitcher of the Week honors after leading No. 3 Sierra to three wins over Top-20 opponents. The sophomore opened the week by striking out seven batters over No. 16 Fresno City in an 8-3 complete-game win over the Rams. She was lights out in her next appearance striking out 13 batters with just two hits across seven innings to lead the Wolverines to a gritty 1-0 shutout over No. 7 San Jose. 

Sutton capped off her week by taking down No. 2 San Mateo in a game that pitted the top two squads from the North Region. She struck out six batters to earn her third complete game win of the week. Sutton finished the week with 26 strikeouts and a 1.67 ERA. Sutton is a perfect 5-0 on the year, all complete games, with 39 strikeouts and a 1.71 ERA for the 12-0 Wolverines.

Rodriguez led the Owls to a perfect 3-0 week win wins over Saddleback, Chaffey, and Golden West. The outfielder was unstoppable in the final game of the week going 3-4 at the plate with seven RBIs, two home runs, and two runs. She put a stamp on the game on the final play when she blasted a grand slam for the walk-off 11-3 win to hand the Rustlers their first loss of the season.

The sophomore finished the week with 11 RBIs, three home runs, one double, five hits, and three runs.
