Riverside Rolls to Title Game
Huntington Beach, CA - After an opening goal by West Valley College (24-7), the Riverside City College (28-6) Women’s Water Polo team rolled against the NorCal #1 seed 10-4. The Tigers would score score the next 10 goals of the game as they advanced to the State Title game for the first time since 2016.

Huntington Beach, CA - After an opening goal by West Valley College (24-7), the Riverside City College (28-6) Women's Water Polo team rolled against the NorCal #1 seed 10-4. The Tigers would score score the next 10 goals of the game as they advanced to the State Title game for the first time since 2016.
The opening goal of the game would come courtesy of the Vikings' Giovanna Valente Cardenuto with 6:48 left on the clock in the first. Riverside's Dori Phillips, Maria Roldan, and Savannah Cypert would answer to round out the first to take a 3-1 lead into the first quarter break
In the second, Cypert, Jessenia Wilson, and Kadee Torres-Guerrero would give the Tigers a 6-1 advantage at the half. In the third Roldan would score twice more and Wilson added her second as they took a commanding 9-1 lead into the final frame.
Sophie Edsall would score the last Tiger goal of the game with 5:31 to go in the contest. Valente Cardenuto would and West Valley's Nadja Novakovic would score twice to end the scoring for the game.
For Riverside, Roldan led the way with a game high three scores, adding a pair of drawn exclusions for good measure. Despite not scoring Nicole Tormey proved to be an important piece for the Tigers assisting on a pair of scores and notching a game high six steals.
The win sets up a rematch of the 2014 CCCAA State Championship game when Orange Empire Conference rival Fullerton College upended Riverside in sudden death overtime 8-7. It's the sixth meeting between the two schools this year, with Fullerton four of the first five. The Championship Game is set for a 1:30 PM start time.
