Top-ranked Fullerton rolls past Orange Coast, 17-4, in Orange Empire women's water polo showdown

COSTA MESA - After being named the No. 1 overall ranked team by CCCAA this past week, the Fullerton Hornets came out ready to defend their top-spot as they took on Orange Coast College on Wednesday in an Orange Empire Conference women's water polo matchup. The Hornets didn't disappoint, winning 17-4.
The first quarter was all Fullerton from beginning to end. The Hornets would go up 7-0 in the quarter, led by Kelly Doherty's 3 goals in less than 5 minutes.
Fullerton added 6 more goals in the second quarter with Alexandra Lopez tossing in 2 of her 4 goals on the day. Orange Coast did manage to break through this quarter, scoring 3 goals themselves.
The third and fourth quarters saw a major halt in goal scoring, with just 5 goals being scored combined between both teams, with 4 coming from Fullerton and just 1 from Orange Coast. Charley Jackson would complete a hat-trick in the 3rd, scoring all three goals in the quarter.
The game would end with the Hornets winning by a score of 17-4, which was one of their more dominant outings of the season.
They improve to 19-2 on the season and 4-1 in conference play.
