Potpourri in State Women's Volleball Players of the Week #6
A setter, an outside hitter and a libero were the choices for CCCWVCA State Players of the Week #6 in San Joaquin Delta's Caprisa Brock, Coalinga's Zoe Ruskofsky, and Santa Barbara City's Valeria Bellodas.
Brock, a sophomore setter from Saint Mary's High in Stockton, returned to state #1-ranked Delta's lineup after missing four matches due to injury and was sensational in two huge Mustangs wins.
In a 4-set win over #2 American River, she handed out 35 assists, landed seven kills (just eight attempts) with eight digs and two blocks. Then she posted eight kills, 37 assists, 11 digs and twirled six aces in Delta's 5-set triumph over #5 Sierra.
An AVCA Third Team All-American as a freshman, Brock is a State POTW for the second time in two seasons. Earlier this year, she passed the 1,000 assists mark in her Delta career.
Ruskofsky, a sophomore OH from Clovis High, totaled 31 kills, 15 digs and five aces in Coalinga's victories over De Anza and Hartnell. She blasted 20 kills in the Hartnell win and had a combined hitting percentage of .353 in the two contests.
Bellodas, a freshman libero from Granada Hills HS, totaled 35 digs and seven aces in back-to-back SBCC wins over Canyons and Santa Monica. She passed at a 2.3-plus rating and was flawless on serve receive in 27 attempts.
