(PASADENA) -- While Feather River is solidifying its hold on the No. 1 ranking in the second 2019 CCCWVCA State Women's Volleyball Top 25 released Monday, a trio of colleges moved up the ranks.
MiraCosta ended Bakersfield's 7-match win streak in four sets and the upset propelled the Spartans from 11th to No. 7. Folsom Lake shot up six places to No. 10 behind exciting 5-set victories over both West Valley and Butte, a team that also flew up the poll a whopping 11 steps to No. 14 with a surprise sweep over De Anza and by taking Folsom Lake the distance. Meanwhile, Moorpark used a sweep over Pasadena City to climb up five spots to No. 12 this week.
Feather River went 5-0 last week to build its perfect record to 13-0. Irvine Valley follows as the South's top team and stays at No. 2 while Fresno City survived a pair of 5-set marathons to beat both West Valley and Sierra (while also sweeping Folsom Lake) in remaining at No. 3. Grossmont moved up to No. 4 after a 7-match win streak was stopped in five sets by Glendale-Arizona. West Valley is up to No. 5 with a shocking sweep over No. 6 San Joaquin Delta. After MiraCosta, Bakersfield fell to No. 8, PCC stays at No. 9, and Folsom Lake completed the top 10.
A couple of new teams joined the Top 25 in Solano at #22 and Rio Hondo at #25.
