VICTORVILLE — The Victor Valley College volleyball team won both matches of a three-team crossover it hosted on Saturday afternoon to finish its non-conference schedule with a 6-6 record.
The Rams beat Mt. San Jacinto College in five sets 28-26, 18-25, 25-20, 22-26 and 15-12. Then VVC swept beat Glendale College 25-10, 25-21, 25-12.
Courtney Klein combined for 34 digs, 21 kills, five blocks and two aces, and Kaylee Minnick added 32 kills, 21 digs, four blocks and two aces to lead VVC.
Darian Medeiros had 36 digs and two aces; Deresa Crenshaw put up five aces, 22 digs, six kills and 75 assists; Sabrina Victor had eight kills and eight blocks; Madison Reaber tallied 13 kills and eight blocks; and Valerie Salazar added 23 digs.
"I'm pleased with what we did today," VVC coach Christa White said. "I knew San Jac was going to be tough. They have a new coach who is committed to (the team)."
The Rams have spent the early schedule dealing with injuries. Lacy Castillo was lost for the season over the summer, Krystal Turner saw her season end prior to the San Diego Mesa Tournament last weekend with an ankle injury and Klein missed that tournament with an injury.
"I'm not unhappy with the way played (so far this season)," White said. "Obviously we were missing a big chunk of our offense."
VVC now has a layoff until it opens Foothill Conference play at Cerro Coso College on Oct. 8. The Rams play their first home game on Oct. 22 against San Bernardino Valley College to open a five-game homestand.
