City College of San Francisco defeated Cabrillo 4-1 in a non-league contest today. Despite creating numerous chances the first half ended 0-0. Just after the whistle blew to start the second half, the host Rams were already on the board just 2 minutes in when Alia Morris headed in a corner kick sent in by Melisa Deckman Gardina. For the next eleven mintures CCSF held the lead until Cabrillo midfielder Clara Critchfield picked up a ball just inside her attacking half and proceeded to beat numerous defenders in route to an unassisted goal in the 58th minute. However, that lead lasted just under a minute becasue Julie Madriz took matters into her own hands when Natalia Gomez slipped her a pass just inside the oppositions 18 yard box. Madriz took it from there and sloted the ball into the back post to give the home team the lead that they would not reliquish while adding 2 more goals.
The last two goals of the game where scored again by the duo Alia Morris and Melisa Deckman Gardina in the 71st before the game what put away on a beautiful free-kick by Ciana Knight (picture) who lifted the ball up and over the Cabrillo wall to record her first goal of the season.
The Rams next game is on the road five hours away this Saturday, September 21 in Eureka where they will take on College of the Redwoods.
