Cerritos, Fresno City Battle for Top Spot in CCCSIA Week One Poll

RIVERSIDE - Week one of the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) women’s soccer poll sees five undefeated teams in the top six to set the stage for a competitive season. Cerritos, who has won the five of the last six state titles, owns the top spot following week one.

Cerritos has earned a pair of victories in the early stages with both scores reading 4-0. The 2017 defending state champion Fresno City is nipping at Cerrito’s heals as they come in ranked second. They received an equal amount of first-place votes as Cerritos.

Fresno City has put on an offensive showing so far by netting 11 total goals while holding their opponents scoreless. Fresno City will face Cerritos on the road this upcoming Friday, September 7 in a highly-anticipated showdown.

Santiago Canyon received the most first-place votes at three and currently ranks third-overall. Sierra and San Joaquin Delta follow ranked fourth and fifth, respectfully.

No. 6 Las Positas, No. 9 Santa Monica, and No. 11 Bakersfield each hold three wins and boast an undefeated record so far.
