SCC Women, Chaffey Men Jump To No.1 Ranks In State
The south reigns supreme in the sixth installment of the CCCAA/CCCSIA Women's Soccer State and Regional Polls with Santiago Canyon College and Cerritos College leap-frogging Fresno City College and Modesto Junior College. Along with falling out of the top spot in the state, Modesto also fell out of the top spot in the north following a 1-0 loss to Cosumnes River College on Halloween. With the season coming to an end, one of the marquee matchups this week will be a battle in the Orange Empire Conference. Riding a four-game winning streak, south #3 Cypress College will close out the season next week against Santiago Canyon.
As we head into the final week of the regular season, the CCCAA/CCCSIA Men's Soccer State and Regional Polls are taking shape with the playoffs approaching. In the state poll, south #1 Chaffey College jumped over previous #1, and the top seed in the north, Taft College. One of the bigger moves was a fall from the top by Hartnell College. Hartnell sat at #2 in the north and is now #4 while falling from #4 in the state to #9. On the other side is El Camino College as the Warriors moved just one spot in the south, from #5 to #4, but jumped five spots in the state, from #10 to a tie for fifth. A rare late-season non-conference match next Tuesday give the two #1 teams in the state a chance to grab some bragging rights going into the playoffs as Taft will travel to Chaffey on Veteran's Day.
