Modesto JC Women Grab No.1 Rank In State
The third CCCAA/CCCSIA Women's Soccer State and Regional Polls found the north overtaking the south as Modesto Junior College and Fresno City College now hold the top two spots. Modesto jumped from #3 in the state to #1 while Fresno City went from #4 to #2. Dropping out of the top spots were Santiago Canyon College, falling from #1 to #3 following a pair of ties, and Cerritos College, from #2 to #4 despite winning three games. In the regional polls, there was very little movement on top but the south found four new teams in the top-10. San Diego Miramar College, College of the Canyons, Irvine Valley College and East Los Angeles College now make up the final four spots. Ohlone College was the only college in the north to go from unranked to ranked, coming in at #10.
The third version of the CCCAA/CCCSIA Men's Soccer State and Regional Polls saw a shakeup with the top spot in two of the three polls. In the south, Mt. San Antonio College overtook the top spot, up from a tie for second, as previous #1 Cerritos College fell to fourth place. The Mounties also claimed the top spot in the state as they moved from a tie for fourth place to #1. The fall from #1 was no fault of Taft College, now #2, as Taft picked up a pair of wins to retain the #1 spot in the north. Fresno City College, Lake Tahoe College and Oxnard College each moved into the regional polls, with Oxnard making the biggest jump into the seventh position. Some of the bigger moves in the state poll belong to Chaffey College, from a tie for sixth to #3, and Hartnell College and Santa Ana College as both scools are tied for fourth. Hartnell was #10 and Santa Ana #8.
