SBVC (2-0-2) grabbed their second victory of the season,
remaining undefeated putting together a solid performance with all
three goal scorers off of the bench and knocking off the Glendora
Citrus Fighting Owls (2-3), 3-1.
Citrus opened up the scoring in the 35th minute with a free kick
goal, however, four minutes later freshman forward Amairany Rosales
(Rialto H.S.) riffled in a shot passed the keeper to equalize the
score, 1-1. Both teams went into halftime with the game tied.
The tie was broken in the 68th minute by freshman forward Milan
Castellanos (Redlands H.S.), she led both teams with four total
shots taken; two of them being on goal, and one that put SBVC in
the lead, 2-1.
Sealing the deal with an insurance goal, freshman defender Jenny
Guyet (Redlands Citrus Valley) connected with sophomore forward
Cynthia Chavez (Cathedral City H.S.) scoring the final goal of the
game in the 77th minute.
Sophomore goal keeper Sarah Gonzalez (San Bernardino H.S.) played
all 90 minutes, making three saves and keeping her record
unblemished.
SBVC had a ferocious second half, taking a total of 13 shots in
the game, with 11 in the second half alone, compared to Citrus, who
had 12 total shots with nine in the first half.
