Mt. San Antonio Repeats as SoCal Team Champion

Walnut, Calif. - Defending 3C2A Champion Mt. San Antonio College took one step closer to a four-peat with a 33-11 win over Victor Valley College in the SoCal Men's Wrestling Dual Team Championship on Saturday evening.

Cerritos College took third place with a 27-21 win over Palomar College.

The Mounties and Rams traded bouts to open the championship matchup with Victor Valley striking first with a technical fall at 125 pounds. Mt. SAC responded with a major decision at 133 pounds before each squad posted a decision in the ensuing matches.

But at 157 pounds, Rocco Godinez scored the go-ahead points for the Mounties with the first of two Mt. SAC falls, pinning Jesse Wilson in 2:52, leading to a 26-3 run to close out the contest.

Aiden Rios-Ramirez started the scoring for Mt. SAC at 133 pounds iwth a 19-6 major decision, one of five Mountie bonus point victories of their seven total. Veysel Pekince scored the lone tech fall at 165 pounds. And Aaron Martinez rounded out the bouts with a pin in 3:43 at 197 pounds.

Jose Molina earned the lone bonus point victory for the Rams at 125 pounds with Paulo Valdez (141) and Maximus Stevenson (184) each earning decisions.

The Mounties return to action when they host Fresno City College for the 3C2A Men's Wrestling Dual Team Championship on Sunday, Nov. 22.
