San Joaquin Delta leads trio of NorCal teams atop first CCCSIA women's basketball poll
SAN LUIS OBISPO - San Joaquin Delta College is the best women’s basketball team in the state according to the California Community College Sports Information Association poll. The CCCSIA voted unanimously for the Mustangs of Stockton who suffered their lone setback at Santa Rosa Junior College last week, 55-56.
The top three positions were swept by North Region. Fresno City College is second. A contest to break the tie with West Hills-Lemoore atop Central Valley Conference standings last Wednesday was postponed to February.
Sierra College in Rocklin is third. They are poised a half-game behind San Joaquin Delta in the Big 8 Conference. Delta defeated Sierra two weeks ago with a rematch slated for next month on Sierra’s floor.
Mt. San Antonio College is the highest South team in the CCCSIA poll, fourth in California. The Mounties travel from their Walnut campus to L.A. Trade-Tech on Wednesday.
One point behind in fifth is Moorpark College. The Raiders lead Western State Conference’s North Division at 3-0. They can forge a lead over Santa Barbara City College on Wednesday in the Pavilion.
