South Coast Conference North places four in state's top 10 of CCCSIA women's basketball rankings
PASADENA - Four teams from the South Coast Conference North Division are a part of the upper 10 of this week's California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) Women's Basketball State Top 20 Rankings. The Big 8's Diablo Valley continues to occupy the No. 1 spot, earning 12 of 15 first-place votes.
The SCC Fearsome Foursome are East Los Angeles at No. 4, Los Angeles Trade Tech at No. 6, Pasadena City at No. 7 and Mt. San Antonio returning to the top 10 at No. 10.
DVC ran its season-long winning streak to 21 games while No. 2 Moorpark (21-1) is on a 5-game win streak as the Raiders grabbed the other three first-place votes. Merced (20-2) has won 15 straight and kept its No. 3 spot. Sequoias (19-3) moved up a spot to No. 5 while current 11-game win string San Francisco (16-2) at No. 8 and San Joaquin Delta (17-4) at No. 9 stayed in their same perches on the ladder.
Defending state champion Mt. San Jacinto had the biggest leap in the poll, a three-spot jump to No. 12. Cypress joined the Top 20 at No. 20 to unseat last week's No. 18 Chabot from the rankings.
Moorpark continues to be the RPI ratings leader at .670 and then it's a SCC North logjam of Pasadena (.654), East LA (.636) and LA Trade Tech (.635). The top North team in RPI is Delta at .634.
Diablo Valley maintains the state's highest-scoring offense at 90.8 points per game. Glendale is the new state defense leader at 51.2 points allowed a contest.
