Diablo Valley takes over No. 1 rank in sports information directors' women's state top 20
CCCWBCA Regional Polls (PDF Format)
PASADENA - Diablo Valley College, the only undefeated team left in the state, has overtaken Moorpark for the No. 1 position in this week's California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) Women's Basketball State Top 20 Rankings.
The Vikings, who picked up 10 first-place votes, ran their season-long win streak to 20 games and are a perfect 10-0 to lead the Big 8 Conference race. With five first-place nominations, Moorpark (19-1) is at No. 2. Merced (18-2), winners of 13 in a row, remain at No. 3. Occupying the next three spots are No. 4 East Los Angeles (17-4), No. 5 LA Trade Tech (17-3), and a drop to No. 6 for Sequoias (18-3).
Remaining in their original spots are Pasadena City (15-3) at No. 7, San Francisco (14-2 and on a 9-game win string) at No. 8, and San Joaquin Delta (16-4) at No. 9. The only new team to crack the top 10 is Palomar (15-5).
The second 10 had very little movement with only Sierra jumping into the rankings for the first time at No. 20.
Both the Big 8 and South Coast Conference North Division now have the most teams in the top 20 at four each.
Moorpark leads the RPI ratings at .671, followed by Pasadena at .654, Merced at .639, Delta at .634, and then DVC at .633.
Diablo Valley has the state's highest-scoring offense at 91.7 points per game. Pasadena is the state's stingiest defense at 50.4 points allowed a contest.
