Regional Brackets: NorCal l SoCal
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The top four Southern California regional seeds in the California Community College Athletic Association Women's Basketball Championship Championships each sent strong messages that they're on top of their game this postseason, posting convincing wins on Saturday night that send them into the regional final round next Saturday with berths to the state championship tournament in Ventura on the line.
Meanwhile, there were no surprises in the NorCal Regionals with Saturday's four higher seeds each moving on a day after three lower seeds - including 12th-seeded Cypress College - posted road victories. ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Solano Community College women's basketball team was outscored in the final three quarters by top-seeded Sierra after a 7-7 tie after the first in their round of 16 game in the NorCal Regionals on Saturday, but that hardly tells the story.
The 16th-seeded Falcons gave the Wolverines a battle throughout before having to foul late and ensuing free throws extending the lead to a 59-49 final margin.
"We held them to 25 underneath their (season) average," Solano coach Matt Borchert said. "Great game, great battle. We held them close whole way. We made some runs, but we couldn't quite get it all the way back like we did (in the first round) against Shasta."
