Dons open SoCal Regionals with win over Hancock, 75-63

SANTA ANA, Calif. - No. 15 Santa Ana College defeated visiting No. 18 Allan Hancock College with a 75-63 on Wednesday night to advance to the next round of the 2017 SoCal Regional Playoffs. With the win, the Dons overall record improves to 16-13 while Allan Hancock ends its season with an overall record of 17-10.
The game opened with a three-point jump shot from sophomore Jen Ventura followed by a layup from the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs finished the quarter with the Dons trailing by one point.
The Dons rallied in the second quarter to outscore the Bulldogs 22-15. Sophomore Blaysen Varnadoe closed out the half with a layup to extend the Dons lead to four points.
SAC had their largest lead over Allan Hancock College in the third quarter by 17 points. Sophomore Taylor Ivicevic led the quarter with nine points and with four assists from sophomore Jen Ventura.
The Dons finished the game with a 75-63 win. Blaysen Varnadoe led the team with 25 points and had nine rebounds. The Dons will play again and travel to East Los Angeles College on Saturday, Feb. 25 for the second round of SoCal Regional Playoffs.
