Emery perfect, Berard does it all in week eight
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Ihilani Berard of Santa Ana College and Lauren Emery of Lassen College earn California Community College Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Player and Pitcher of the Week on Monday, March 23.
Leading off with Emery, her perfect game against Redwoods headlines this week’s action. Although it was only through six innings, the sophomore kept all 18 batters faced off the base paths while striking out four. Later in the week, she allowed one earn run in a start against Siskiyous. All told, in 13.1 innings, Emery allowed just five hits while pitching to a 0.52 ERA.
Berard, not to be overshadowed, went 7-for-16, leading the Dons to a 3-1 week. She was stellar in the circle as well, pitching 22.1 innings, earning three wins. She tossed complete games in wins over Riverside and Canyons in back-to-back days. She mashed two doubles at the plate, while posting her best performance against Riverside, 3-for-4.
