San Mateo heads the pack for eighth consecutive week

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – No. 1 San Mateo stands alone as the final undefeated team in week seven of the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Coaches’ Poll.

The Bulldogs bested No. 2 West Valley 5-1 earlier on Tuesday, March 10. A tied game heading into the sixth, San Mateo posted a three-run frame. Lola Sierra, week five’s 3CFCA Pitcher of the Week, closed out a one-run complete game.

No. 3 Palomar remains atop the south with just one loss to No. 4 Mt. San Antonio College. The Comets and Mounties have both dismantled opponents all season long. The teams’ three combined losses were each by one run.

The Big 8 and Coast Conferences make up all 10 of the north’s top-20 teams with each conference sporting five.

In the south, a team to watch is No. 9 Cerritos. The Falcons have rattled off 13 of their last 14 after a 1-3 start to the season, including victories over No. 16 Long Beach and No. 13 Citrus.
