Moore, Castillo debut 2025 as Player and Pitcher of the Week
LOS ANGELES, Calif – Sophomore first baseman Veronica Moore of Fullerton College and first-year pitcher Mia Castillo of Fresno City College open the 2025 season with California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association Player and Pitcher of the Week honors.
Moore mashed at the plate in her sophomore debut, crushing opposing pitching with a .636 batting average, eight RBI and four extra base hits. She helped the preseason No. 1 Hornets to a 2-1 record to begin 2025.
Castillo opened her collegiate career against the Hornets, handing Fullerton its first loss of the season with a five-inning complete-game shutout. She struck out six and allowed just three hits in her debut. Later in the weekend, Castillo picked up her second win with a scoreless one-hit relief appearance against No. 19 LA Mission. She spearheaded Fresno City to a 3-0 start.
