Cypress uses big rallies to beat Folsom Lake, 10-1

GLENDORA, CA — The Cypress College Chargers scored four runs in the second inning and six in the fourth inning to beat the Folsom Lake Falcons 10-1 in an elimination game Friday afternoon at Citrus College.

The Chargers will face Mt. SAC tonight at 8 p.m. at Mt. SAC in another elimination game. Folsom Lake ends the season 21-26.

Camryn Addimando led the Chargers with a 3-3 performance at the plate with two RBIs and two runs. Her biggest at bat came in the fourth inning when she double down the right field line to score Jaylene Duarte and Vanessa Correa as part of a six-run inning for the Chargers.

Starting pitcher Emily Rush helped her own cause at the plate finishing with a pair of RBIs of a single up the middle in the second inning that plated Ashlynn Ortiz and Lizbeth Gomez to put Cypress up 4-0. Rush allowed just one hit in four innings of work to improve her record in the circle to 30-5.

Ortiz got the early rally started when she singled in Gomez and Mikala Jacobsen to give Cypress the opening 2-0 lead and the Chargers never slowed down.

Cypress swiped four bags in the game with Duarte, Reynolds, Jacobsen, and Jaiden Stern each stealing a base. Reynolds stole home in the fourth to extend the lead to 8-0.

Cameron Curile kept the rally going in the fourth singling in Jacobsen and Addimando to make the lead 10-0.

The Falcons got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Mikaela Pamplona reached on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded to score Donna Jo Dalton, putting the final at 10-1.
