In the bottom of the 10th Sierra's designated player Kendal Manley leadoff with a single up the middle. Pinch runner Shawn Szeto stepped in for Manley and moved over to third on an infield ground out by Arianna De La Loza. That brought up Redinger who doubled to deep left center scoring Szeto and keeping the Wolverines' championship hopes alive.
Both starting pitchers went the distance in the extra-inning game. Sierra was led by sophomore Amaya Sutton, who improved to 24-2, with nine strikeouts. San Jose City's Alaina Valdez went nine and one-third innings also with nine strikeouts and finished the season with an 18-10 record.
Sierra took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when sophomore shortstop Eliana Enriquez, who led all hitters with three hits, opened the inning with a single and later scored on a wild pitch.
San Jose came right back to tie the game, 1-1, in the second with a solo home run by catcher Deja Jimenez.
Sierra retook the lead, 2-1, with three hits and a run in the bottom of the second. Redinger opened the inning with a single and crossed the plate on a single by Kayley Vaillette.
The Jaguars answered again with one out in the fifth inning and tied the game 2-2 when centerfielder Melissa Felix singled and eventually scored on a double by right fielder Jade Henry.
That was all the scoring for the next five innings until the walk-off double in the bottom of the 10th.
