COD (11-2, 1-0) off to their best start since 2014, played their visitors at a neutral site of Wheatfield Park in Menifee (Tournament hosted by Mt San Jacinto College), as the Roadrunners used the bottom half of the fifth inning to claw their way back into the lead over the East Los Angeles College Huskies (6-3, 4-0), final score was 5-4 in six innings.
Desert scored one run in the first, one run in the third, one in the fourth and two runs in the fifth for the win. Sophomore right-handed starting pitcher Lauren Robinson (La Quinta H.S.) scattered seven hits, with a season-high eight strikeouts. Catcher Natalie Avila (Rancho Mirage H.S.) led the way going 2 for 2 with one Double, Robinson had a Triple, Jaidyn Olson (Rancho Mirage H.S.) had a base hit, all three hitters led the way with one run batted in.
