CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Standout pitcher Yasmine Jameson put her name on top of Southwestern's softball strikeout list with another strong outing, collecting four K's during the Jaguars' 4-0 win over visiting San Diego Mesa on Wednesday.
Jameson went the distance for Southwestern, allowing just thre singles and two walks. She pushed her career strikeout total to 259, eclipsing the mark of 255 previously held by All-American Gabrielle Beasley.
The win lifted Southwestern to an 8-3 record while San Diego Mesa, which got a good performance in the circle from Sarah Crawford who allowed just three hits, dropped to 4-7. Amanda Whitley led the way at the plate for the Jaguars, collecting a three-run triple.
Southwestern jumped to a 1-0 lead in the third inning after Madison Nafarette reached on an infield error and then stole second. She eventually went over to third on a sacrifice and then and scored on another error by the Olympian's infield.
A pair of infield popouts started the home half of the fourth but an error, a walk and a single by Serena Terrones loaded the bases for Whitley, who tripled in all three runners before getting thrown out on the play.
Alyssa Garrette and Kyle Minshew also had hits for Southwestern while Savanah Wallace, Eliana Godinez and Crawford singled for the Olympians.
