The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce it's Week #9 Northern and Southern California Players. El Camino College's Victoria win's the SoCal Player of the Week, while College of the Desert's Alyssa Fuimaono won the SoCal Pitcher of the Week Award. In the North, Reedley College's Morgen Blanchard was named the Player of the Week, while Shasta College's Megan McColpin earned the Pitcher of the Week honors.
Northern California Player of the Week – Morgen Blanchard – Reedley College
Blanchard went 11 for 16 (.686) over five games for the Tigers during Week #9 of competition. Blanchard scored six runs, and drove in five RBI's on the week. Her best game of the week, came in game number two of a double-header with West Hills College Coalinga. Blanchard went 4 for 5, hit for the cycle, scored three times, and drove in a pair of RBI's. Blanchard is 5'7 freshman short stop out of Hanford, CA where she attended Hanford High School.
Northern California Pitcher of the Week – Megan McColpin – Shasta College
McColpin dominated her Week #9 competition, appearing in six games, going 6-0 in the circle, and recording four shutouts. McColpin gave up just two total runs, and struck out 39 batters in just 36 innings of work. McColpin is a sophomore for the Knights out of Red Bluff, CA where she attended Red Bluff High School.
Southern California Player of the Week – Victoria Garcia – El Camino College
Garcia played in six games for the Warriors during Week #9 and went 14 for 21 (.667) at the plate. Garcia hit a pair of doubles, two triples, and a pair of home runs, that included a grand slam. She drove in seven runs, and scored nine times during the week. Against Long Beach, Garcia was 3 for 3 with two triples, two runs, and a walk. Garcia is a freshman for El Camino, who came to the Warriors from San Pedro High School.
Southern California Pitcher of the Week – Alyssa Fuimaono – College of the Desert
Fuimaono appeared in two games for the Roadrunners during Week #9, pitching a pair of shutotus and going 2-0. She only gave up eight hits on the week, and struck out 11 batters, while going 7 for 11 with eight RBI's, and four runs scored at the plate. She hit a pair of doubles, and a grand slam. Fuimaono is a sophomore for Desert out of Beaumont, CA where she attended Beaumont High School.
