State leading win streak for No. 1 ranked CSM reaches 24 games against Coast South co-leader West Valley

Lelani Akai completed a perfect 5-for-5 hitting week as top-ranked College of San Mateo ran its state-leading softball winning streak to 24 games with a mercy-rule shortened five-inning romp at Coast South co-leader West Valley College in Saratoga.CSM (28-1) is now 9-0 in Coast North play with a three-game lead over second place Ohlone (6-3).
West Valley (16-15, 6-3 Coast South) fell a game behind Cabrillo in the other division.
No other team in the state has won more than 21 games.
Akai wet 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and scored two runs against West Valley as CSM banged out 14 hits. In San Mateo's 3-0 win at Hartnell on Tuesday she was 2-for-2. Raquel Martinez scored a pair of runs in each game and added a stolen base to her state lead (24 for the season). Talisa Fiame had four RBI, three against West Valley, and ranks second in the state with 41. She had doubles in both game to increase her NorCal lead to 13, which ranks No. 2 in the state.
Ashlynne Neil was the winning pitcher in both games to up her season record to 13-1.
