Sierra Alum, Alex Obert, Named To US Men’s Olympic Water Polo Team
It was announced today, July 7 2016, that former Sierra College men's aquatics athlete Alex Obert has been named to the US Men's Olympic Water Polo team that will compete this Summer at the Olympic Games in Rio De Janiero, Brazil.
Obert competed at Sierra College during the 2010-11 school year, before transferring to the University of the Pacific on a water polo scholarship. While at UOP, Obert was a 3 time Division 1 All-American, and has been a member of the USA Water Polo Men's National Team since 2012.
His International/Club accomplishments include recroding four goals in 2015 Pan American Games to assist in Team USA's Gold-medal finish...Scored two goals in Team USA's Bronze-medal finish at 2015 FINA Inter- continental Tournament...Tallied six goals in fourth-place finish at 2014 FINA World Cup...Scored three goals en route to fifth-place finish at 2014 FINA World League Super Final...Added four goals in helping Team USA to Gold at 2014 FINA Intercontinental Tournament...Scored two goals during 2013 FINA World Cup Qualifiers...Competed in 2013 FINA World Championships...Competed in his first major event with Senior National Team at 2013 FINA World League Super Final...Tallied two goals in helping the United States to fourth place at 2013 FINA World League Super Final.
