3C2A Men's Volleyball: Standings l Scoreboard
IRVINE - After playing its first four matches either on the road or at neutral sites, Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team finally able to call Hart Gym home for a contest.
The Lasers played some of their best volleyball of the year in taking down Santa Monica, 26-24, 21-25, 25-17, 25-21, on Wednesday night.
The win improved IVC's record to 3-2 overall and ended a two-match losing streak.
Sophomore outside hitter Matt Reid led the way, finishing with 14 kills and hitting .458 on the night. Reid also finished with two blocks.
Sophomore outside hitters Zach McEntire and Damon Kooiman each added 10 kills. McEntire also finished with five digs for the Lasers.
Freshman setter Grant Dvorak also had a big night for IVC. He ended with seven kills in 13 attempts (.538 hitting) with 24 assists, two aces and eight digs.
And Irvine Valley freshman libero Domenic Marquez contributed eight digs.
IVC hit .319 (45-15-94) on the evening.
The Lasers get a break from game action over the next nine days. They don't play again until Friday, Feb. 23 at Miramar at 6 p.m.
