Wash, rinse, repeat... No changes to CCCMVCA rankings
IRVINE - For the fourth week in a row, Orange Coast is the No. 1-ranked team in the state. The Pirates received all 11 first-place votes in the California Community College Men’s Volleyball Coaches Association Poll.
The poll replicates last week. The first through 10th teams are the same. But things could change as the regular season winds down.
There are several important matches Wednesday night. No. 1 OCC hosts No. 3 Irvine Valley in a battle for the top spot in the Orange Empire Conference. The Pirates are 14-1 overall and Irvine Valley is 15-3. No. 6 Moorpark hosts No. 7 Santa Monica in a key match for playoff position and No. 2 Long Beach hosts Antelope Valley on Wednesday. The Vikings’ Erik Hernandez leads the state in kills per set at 4.44.
Cameron Grammatica from Santiago Canyon is right behind Hernandez at 4.03 kill per set. OCC’s Will Anderson has continued to shine all over the court. He is averaging 3.77 kills, ranks second in the state in total kills at 177, hits .345 (fourth best in the state) and leads the state in aces (0.62 per set).
