SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Cerritos College women and Mt. San Antonio College men are looking to defend their California Community College Athletic Association track and field team titles at American River College in Sacramento on Friday and Saturday, May 19-20. Both colleges won Southern California team crowns last weekend in qualifying for this week’s all finals meet. College of the Sequoias, which won both Northern California crowns, figures as a strong challenger – along with the other top regional placers.
In the women’s regionals, Cerritos won in the south with 195 points, ahead of Mt. San Antonio (117), and Riverside (99). Sequoias took the north title with 149 points, followed by Laney (103) and De Anza (100).
In the men’s regionals, Sequoias scored 154 points in the north, ahead of Hartnell (104) and American River (78). Mt. SAC took the south men’s title with 185 points, followed by Riverside (104) and Cerritos (55).
U.S. LEADER: When Sequoias freshman Quincy Hall ran the 400 meters in 45.12 to win the elite invitational race at the Mt. San Antonio Relays last month, it was the fastest time by anyone in the USA this year. Although since surpassed, Hall is still by far the community college national leader in both the flat 400 and the 400 meter hurdles (49.39).
